Chris Jeffries

Chris Jeffries has written the book, music and lyrics for Vera Wilde (winner of four San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle awards, including “Best Original Score”), and Moon Of My Delight, all originally at Seattle’s Empty Space Theatre, and The Glory Booty Club; I See London, I See France; Radio Pirates; The Fatty Arbuckle Spook House Revue, all originally at Seattle’s Annex Theatre.

Chris is currently under commission by Seattle’s ACT Theatre to write, in conjunction with the Jack Kerouac estate, a new musical version of the Kerouac novel, Maggie Cassidy.

Music and lyrics credits include Horse Opera (book by Quincy Long); Laura Comstock’s Bag-Punching Dog (Circle X, Los Angeles); Punch In America (Illusion Theatre, Minneapolis); and Charles Ludlam’s Corn (Seattle’s Annex Theatre). His music for Bunnicula (book/lyrics by Jon Klein, Seattle Children’s Theatre) has been heard in dozens of productions in the U.S. and Canada.

Chris was commissioned to write music and lyrics for the new musical, Curveball (book by JT Allen), and by the Northwest Film Forum to compose new songs and lyrics to create a live music performance to accompany film sequences from the legendary Hollywood choreographer, Busby Berkeley.

Chris’s score of The Stranger’s (Seattle) “Genius” Grant in Performance; and was a finalist in the Theatre category for CalArts’ Alpert Award in the Arts.

A graduate of Yale University, Chris now makes his home in Seattle, Washington.
