Chris Jeffries has written the book, music and lyrics for several musicals, including Vera Wilde (2002) and Moon Of My Delight (1997) at Seattle's Empty Space Theatre, and The Glory Booty Club (1997), I See London, I See France (1995), Radio Pirates (1993), The Fatty Arbuckle Spook House Revue (1992) and Maggie Cassidy (1990, based on the novel by Jack Kerouac) at Seattle's Annex Theatre. Fatty and Maggie Cassidy were later produced in New Haven, Connecticut at the Yale School of Drama with original director Allison Narver.
Music and lyrics credits include Horse Opera (slated to premiere in 2007, book by Quincy Long, jointly commissioned by Seattle's Empty Space, Minneapolis's Illusion, and Washington D.C.'s Woolly Mammoth Theatres); Laura Comstock's Bag-Punching Dog (Los Angeles, 2002); Punch In America (Minneapolis, 2000); and Charles Ludlam's Corn (Seattle's Annex Theatre, 1990). His music for Bunnicula (book/lyrics by Jon Klein, Seattle Children's Theatre, 1996) has been heard in dozens of productions in the U.S. and Canada.
Most recently, Chris was commissioned by the Northwest Film Forum to compose new songs and lyrics to create a live music performance of film sequences from the legendary Hollywood choreographer Busby Berkeley.
Chris is the recipient of The Stranger's (Seattle) first annual "Genius" Grant in Performance, 2003; and was a finalist in the Theatre category for CalArts' Alpert Award in the Arts, 2005.
