BRADEN KING — filmmaker, photographer and visual artist — is a magna cum laude graduate of the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. In addition to grants from Creative Capital and the Rockefeller, Annenberg, and Sloan Foundations — King’s honors include a 2007 Sundance Writers and Directors Lab Fellowship, a nomination to the 2008 Cannes Film Festival Atelier, the 2008 Sundance / NHK International Filmmakers Award, the 2010 Cinereach / Sundance Institute Fellowship, and the C.I.C.A.E. Award.
His most recent feature film, HERE, premiered at the 2011 Sundance and Berlin Film Festivals. Strand Releasing presented HERE theatrically in the U.S. in 2012, and the film has been distributed throughout the world. A live installation version of the project, HERE: THE STORY SLEEPS, premiered at The Museum of Modern Art in 2010 and continues to tour internationally.
King has directed commercials for several clients, including Microsoft, Samsung, American Airlines, Miller Beer, ESPN, Johnson & Johnson, Siemens, HEB, and Coca-Cola. He has also directed music videos for Sonic Youth, Laurie Anderson, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy (Will Oldham), Dirty Three, Cat Power (Chan Marshall), Sparklehorse, Giant Sand, and Rachael Yamagata.
